Smokehouse Butter Sauce for Bread Pudding

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cups sugar
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch dissolved in ¼ cup water
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 teaspoons white vanilla
  • 1 ½ cups boiling water
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Preparation

Cream sugar, eggs and butter. Add cornstarch mixture. Add boiling water slowly. Cook in double boiler until thickened, stirring frequently. Add vanilla and mix thoroughly.
